Four years ago I spent April 30th in Amsterdam. I thought that was the greatest April 30th of my life. Celebrating Queen’s day with strangers. Watching the city turn into a gigantic market. Eating french fries with mayo. Smoking like there was no tomorrow. Enjoying the orange filled streets. It was spectacular.

That trip to Europe was one of my “grown up” markers. I had paid for the whole thing on my own dime. I felt proud.

Today, another April 30th has graced me with its presence. I fondly think of Amsterdam and the craziness that is probably taking over the city as I sat in my last grad school class.

And smiled.

These two years have gone by so quickly. These two years I’ve lost and found myself. These two years I’ve seen you in the mirror and cried, seen you in the mirror and smiled.

April 30th, you are fast becoming an important date to me.

Cheers to more days like this.
