Dear Aimee Bender,
17Apr08
I’ve always liked your work. In college I picked up “the Girl with the Flammable Skirt” because it was in the books by UCI authors section. My eyes soaked up the words and when I saw your new novel, “An Invisible Sign of My Own” on the shelf. I immediately picked it up.
Today I read the most beautiful sentence. You wrote it in chapter 14. I’m tormented because now my brain is going to do somersaults, figuring out how you strung all those pretty words together.
The world can ask you to participate, but it’s a day-to-day decision if you want to agree to that proposal.
Damn.
That’s some good writing.
Thank you for your words,
El
